Oil on masonite

90 x 100 cm

The catalyst for this work was the experience of being immersed in a field of sunflowers.  I remember being dwarfed in their presence yet at the same time incredibly invigorated.  As I began to paint this work I realised it was also about a dear friend and fellow artist, Rae. She was such a curious, full of life, generous soul, being with her made me more inquisitive, more present, lighter and less serious.  There is something universally rich about Australian Landscape can’t be confined to a vista, it is also relational where every moment together life giving and precious.
